22.11.2004 ZMOD on the Publikumsmessen 2004 in Lillestrøm-Norway.
This weekend the “Needle Eye” was accompanied by the “Saguaro River” module
made by Svein-Martin Holt. My self and Svein-Martin had a really good
weekend with lots of visitors that came and praised our z-scale layout that
had the longest running train setup on the show. We got it up to 36 coal
cars that we used a double headed Marklin Yellow Union Pacific F7 locomotive
assisted by an Atlantic Coast Line Marklin F7 locomotive placed in the
middle off the pack. The total length of the train setup was about 3meters.
This combination worked wary well with few derailments during the day.
What we need to do before next show is to get some automated electronics to
be able to control and run some more train setups on the layout for more
action. It’s hard to control more than one train on shoes manually when you
spend most of your time talking to the visitors and control the kids that
really want to touch the small trains and avoid derailments.

"Needle Eye" on the show “Modellmessen 2004” in Solberhallen - Drammen.
Thank you all for a nice gathering this weekend. I had a lot of fun with my
little “puppet zhow” . A lot of nice people and lot of nice words about the
ZMOD.

31.10.2004 I added a new chimney, sandbox, cowcatcher,
number plate and made a wood tender. Clikk on pictures to enlarge!
25.10.2004 I have added a new whistle and bell and some rail
guards. I've also levered the roof/caboose with about
2-3mm.
28.09.2004. Made a new chimney, cowcather and a headlamp. See

NEW!! "Needle Eye" Lumber Co. Steam Locomotive.
This
is my wary first attempt on making my own train shell for the old US style
Steam Engine. My first attempt went fairly well and I think the result
without too much details and work inspired me to go on and try to build
another at later time.

Z-Scale- Marklin Turnout rebuilding.
I decided that the motor on the Marklin Z-Scale turnouts is not so pretty.
So I went to work on one that was already installed on my Needle Eye ZMOD.

I have now got the modules up on some legs
so that I can begin to fine tune
the tracks between the modules and add some electrics to test the trains on
all the modules together. That is gona be fun.
05.08.04
Working
on laying track on the last module. I'm yet to determine how the layout is
gone be. Is the main double track going on top or on the bottom of the
single track?
All the modules are in practice interchangeable in-between each other
including the single side track. So in the future I can rebuild the layout
of the module for expansions and connect to other modules on future RR-Shows.
20.07.04
Some more track work has been done on the modules.

The loko seems to run great on the hillclimb so far.
15.07.04
The new ZMOD's is beginning to take shape.
There will be 3 more new modules built to form an oval track with the ZMOD
standards. Whit this shape it will fit in to corner of my living room.

MJF’s Spring meeting 2004. The ZMOD has been on its first test run with
other modules. And it was visited by “Casy Jones” and other great trains
that Svein-Martin Holt brought with him. The trains fitted perfectly inn to
my landscape. To bad I could not take them home with me. After some test
runs with some derailments and some small bugs we got the trains to run
pretty good. Overall it looks like the ZMOD standard is going to work god so
it will be fun when more people begin to build ZMOD’s. One of the train sets
was over 3meters long with coal hopers. A mighty sight!! All in all a very
nice weekend with people building trees and learning about photographing,
soldering and more. Bo "Bosse" Tausis came all the way from Sweeden to look
at the ZMOD. He is also working on a ZMOD. So I’m looking forward to our
next meeting and driving some long trains!!!
